Go Structs

Go struct is used to create a collection of objects of different data types. They are useful to create a grouping of data to form records. To declare a structure in Go, you will need to use the type and struct keywords.

Go Struct syntax

type struct_name struct {
  member1 datatype;
  member2 datatype;
  member3 datatype;
  member4 datatype;
  member5 datatype;
  ...
}

Example of creating struct in Go

below is an example or struct in Go that has 2 objects: name as String and age as integer

type person struct {
    name string
    age  int
}

Go Access Struct Members

To access any member of a structure, use the dot operator (.) between the structure variable name and the structure member:

package main
import ("fmt")

type Person struct {
  name string
  age int
}

func main() {
  var person Person

  person.name = "Jhon"
  person.age = 33

  // Access and print person info
  fmt.Println("Name: ", person.name)
  fmt.Println("Age: ", person.age)

}

Output

Name: Jhon
Age: 33

Go Example Pass Struct as Function Arguments

package main
import ("fmt")

type Person struct {
  name string
  age int
}

func print_Person(person Person) {
  fmt.Println("Name: ", person.name)
  fmt.Println("Age: ", person.age)
}

func main() {
  var person Person

  person.name = "Jhon"
  person.age = 33

  print_Person(person)

}

Output

Name: Jhon
Age: 33
