RUST If Else - Decision Making
Decision-making structures require that the programmer specify one or more conditions to be evaluated or tested by the program, along with a statement or statements to be executed if the condition is determined to be true, and optionally, other statements to beexecuted if the condition is determined to be false.
If statement
An if statement consists of a boolean expression followed by one or more statements.Example:
fn main(){
let num:i32 = 10;
if num > 0 {
println!("number is positive") ;
}
}
If...else statement
An if statement can be followed by an optional else statement, which executes when the boolean expression is false.Example:
fn main() {
let num = 20;
if num % 2==0 {
println!("Even");
} else {
println!("Odd");
}
}
Nested if statement
You can use one if or else if statement inside another if or else if statement(s).Example:
fn main() {
let num = 2 ;
if num > 0 {
println!("{} is positive",num);
} else if num < 0 {
println!("{} is negative",num);
} else {
println!("{} is neither positive nor negative",num) ;
}
}
Match statement
A match statement allows a variable to be tested against a list of values.Example:
fn main(){
let state_code="NY";
let state = match state_code {
"NY" => {
println!("Found match for NY");
"New York"},
"MI" => "Michigan",
"FL" => "Florida",
"GA" => "Georgia",
_ => "Unknown"
};
println!("State name is {}",state);
}
